New Asus touchscreen phone is Xda Zest
This Asus handset's cropped up in a couple of places today sending the blogosphere scurrying for details. Turns out it's destined to be a new O2 Xda dubbed the Zest.
We can see what O2's thinking here, with its Xda line-up sorely lacking an Omnia/Xperia/Touch Pro - oh, aside from that Apple iPhone 3G thing it stocks.
The mooted specs are that the Zest - which will also be known as the Asus Glaxy7, the GM5 and the Crytal - have a 3.5in super hi-res, HTC Touch HD-matching, 800x480 pixel touchscreen, plus a 5mp camera with autofocus.
It'll run Windows Mobile Professional 6.1, tweaked with Asus' new Glide 1.5 UI and have 4GB of onboard storage, expandable with MicroSD.
We're also promised an accelerometer for screen turning duty and what would appear to be a Pearl-esque track ball controller.
The Global Certification Forum notes that the phone received its global certificate way back in July but sadly doesn't give a launch date.
