HTC Dream becomes T-Mobile G1 - gets $199 price tag (with contract)

HTC Dream aka T-Mobile G1The Wall Street Journal, which has been pretty accurate on its predictions so far, has said that T-Mobile’s rebadge job of the Android-based HTC Dream will be known as the G1 when it's announced on the pink network in the US on Tuesday.

It's also come up with a price: $199 - on contract, which happens to be the exact same price as the 8GB iPhone 3G, although there's no word on quite how long the contract will be.

Intriguingly, the WSJ also states that the phone will "showcase the Google brand... a departure from the standard practice of listing only the manufacturer and wireless carrier on handsets." So expect a liberal plastering of the Google logo on the box.
