Samsung's NC10 netbook lands next month

Samsung NC10Seems the world and his friend has launched a UMPC netbook and now Samsung has given the word that it too is joining the bandwagon - with the Samsung NC10.

The 10.2in laptop gets the usual 1.6GHz Atom, 1GB RAM, 1.3MP webcam, memory card reader, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Windows XP as standard. Samsung hasn't skimped on the power with a six-cell  battery promising up to eight hours of use.

Also setting it apart from the swathes of options out there will be its 'SuperBright Non-Gloss LED screen', which should fare better outdoors than others, plus 'Protect-o-Edge' casing to take the knocks. And for those who like to keep a supply of wipes handy for the office keyboards, it gets 'nano-sized silver ion powder' to make short work of any bacteria that may otherwise lurk among the QWERTYs.

Despite the fact that Samsung's been leading the charge with cut-price SSDs the storage options are of a strictly standard hard drive affair, but that does mean capacities stretch from the base-spec 80GB, up to a healthy 160GB.

The NC10 will be out in October for £329 in white, piano black and metallic blue.
