Orange bags Nokia 5800 exclusive?

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

Orange must be feeling a little left out with all the touchscreen exclusives available on O2 (iPhone 3G), vodafone (BlackBerry Storm) and T-Mobile (G1) but now it looks as if it's finally bagged one of its own. Rumour is its snared the newly announced Nokia 5800 XpressMusic (aka the Tube) as an Orange exclusive.

The news comes in the form of a snippet in the Guardian's review of the BlackBerry Storm. When comparing the various alternatives, Richard Wray writes: "Both the G1 and the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic - which by the way will be sold in the UK by Orange - have made use of tactile feedback."

So is this an educated guess or insider info? With UK availability not slated till early next year, it could be a while till we find out.

Hello There, Has this been confirmed or is it still just a speculation? It'd be sad to see the tube on Orange only - but in the mobile market, you never know. Cheers, Jaan

All speculation at the moment - but, as you say, you can't rule it out with the way things are going with other major handset releases.

they have the htc touch hd as exclusive but not the nokia 5800. nokia doesn't do exclusive deals on this phone, it will be available everywhere. wider availability == better sales. nokia goes the sensible way here.

I recently heard, from Orange, that Orange & Nokia have had a bit of a falling out, and the two companies aren't on the best of terms at the moment. In fact, the word was they're unsure of what 'phones will be released to Orange in the forseeable future, if any. The problem appears to be bad feeling from Nokia to Orange.

Sounds unlikely - but then anything's possible at Orange these days. Where did you hear it?
