LaCie's 1TB Internet Space answers netbook storage woes
If 8GB of SSD storage in your netbook isn't quite cutting it for your collection of HD movies and Now That's What I Call Music back catalogue, then help is at hand. LaCie's launched the Internet Space network drive that not only backs up your data at home but let's you access it remotely over the web.
It isn't the first remote access network drive we've seen - check out Western Digital's My Book World Edition II - but it does promise to be the simplest.
With a simple Ethernet port for connecting to your network, LaCie reckons on a set-up time of all of five minutes. Remote access is done by logging on at www.homelacie.com, which should give you access to your data from any where in the world. Slick.
If you are a media fiend, the Internet Space will also stream its contents to your home Xbox 360 or PS3 - although we'd say the minimalist mirror-polish white brick styling has more of the Wii about it.
On a more practical note, the drive comes DesktopMirror software for both PC and Mac for doing the hole Apple Time Machine thing. You can also link it to a secon hard drive via USB for a belt and braces back-up job.
The 500GB model weighs in at £135. 1TB will set you back £180 when they go on sale this month.
