T-Mobile G1 handsets now shipping with 3.5mm adapter

According to the forum denizens of TmoNews, new recipients of the T-Mobile G1 are opening their boxes to find a 3.5mm headphone adapter.

The lack of a 3.5mm jack socket on the G1 was seen as an odd omission, a fact note in our G1 first impressions video. Instead, the G1 has only a mini-USB socket, tying the owner to the supplied headset.

But if the posters over at TmoNews are to be believed, then T-Mobile has had a fit of common sense and is now putting 3.5mm adapters in all new G1s

Whether or not existing customers will be able to get their hands on this gizmo isn’t yet clear: at the time of posting, at least, we couldn’t find the pictured connector on sale as an accessory on the T-Mobile website.
