O2 offers "best value" mobile broadband on pre pay

It may not be the cheapest, and it's certainly not the fastest, but O2 reckons it's come up with the best value mobile broadband package for pre-pay users.

It's just launched a very attractive £29.99 USB dongle for its Pay & Go Mobile Broadband, which boasts speeds of up to 3.6Mbps. That's not quite up there with the 7.2Mbps big boys of Vodafone and Orange, but speedy enough says O2.

There are also some attractive rates for casual users. For 24 hours' use you can stump up a mere £2 and get an allowance of up to 500MB. Weekly rates are £7.50 for 1GB of data and if you're game for a whole month of browsing you can shell out £15 and get a healthy 3GB allowance.

That's not as cheap as 3's, £10 a month, 3-pay deal, which clocks a similar 3.6Mbps, but that only comes with a 1GB allowance . 3's pre-pay dongle will also cost you more and O2 will throw in the sweetener of free Wi-Fi at those uniquitous The Cloud hotspots.
