Beat the credit crunch: free stickers from Google!

Yep, Christmas can be a costly time and during a credit crunch, we’re all looking for ways to be cheapskates. Well, steel yourselves because Google has got a giveaway to beat them all – free Gmail stickers! Give them as a gift to your Gmail-loving best friend!

Along with a self-adhesive glittery Gmail "m-velope" (no, us neither) icon, Google is offering to send anyone who writes to it a bunch of Gmail shortcut stickers: just apply these to the relevant keys on your keyboard for a bright, visual reminder of many of Gmail’s keyboard shortcuts. And that alone is worth the effort, if you ask us. What effort? Read on after the cut to find out how to apply.

To get your lovely, shiny Gmail stickers you’ll need to send Google a good old-fashioned stamped, addressed envelope (SAE). Yes, you heard right – you’ll need to buy some stamps, some envelopes and send a letter through the post, assuming you can remember how. Here’s the application address:

Google says that the sticker package weighs less than an ounce (28 grams, metric fans) and that US citizens can send an SAE with a US$0.42 stamp. But those of us outside the States will need to include an international reply coupon (IRC) – we have no idea what one of those is, but we imagine the Post Office will.
