Countdown to Christmas, 16 days: iPhone 3G Pay & Go

iPhone 3GMuch as we would have been delighted to receive an iPhone 3G at launch, being handed a free phone with an 18 month commitment rather stretches the term "gift". Thankfully, and conveniently for Christmas, O2 saw fit to offer a Pay & Go version that's just begging to be wrapped up and placed under a tree near you.

Thanks to your friendly VAT man, it's also now had a price cut. In line with other gear, the 8GB version has been shaved down from £349.95 to £342.50, while - if you're feeling particularly generous - the 16GB model is £391.45, a snip of its former £399.95. Read on gift seakers.

Course, barring any Jailbreak breakthrough or trips to Vietnam, your recipient will still be tied to the O2 network so they'll have to be happy to throw in their own O2 SIM or use O2's Pay & Go pre-pay. At least O2 will throw in a year's free Wi-fi and data along with the usual Pay & Go benefits. Thoroughly decent of them.

Have a peak at the rest of our Christmas Countdown if you're after some more gift ideas.
