Garmin drip-feeds more nuvifone screenshots

Garmin nuvifoneWe've been waiting for that call from Kim Arnold (Garmin's answer to John Appleseed) ever since the nüvifone was announced way back in January last year Instead we've had to make do with elastic launch schedules and a handful of screenshots. So here's some more - the latest from chez Garmin, showing the home screen, nav screen, web browser, camera, Google apps (it's not Android, before you ask), email and calendar in action.

Just last month, the nüvifone was spotted rumbling through America's FCC regulatory body. The papers revealed it to be made by Asus (who nicknamed it the "Calf"), packing a 3.5" touchscreen, built-in GPS (well, you'd hope so), a camera with geotagging (as shown in the screenshots) and HSDPA.

That coupled with these fresh screenshots suggests some news on its release must be imminent. Garmin's previously promised it will be available some time this quarter, which means any time before the end of March, so a CES unveiling complete with drumroll, trumpet fanfare and dancing girls certainly isn't out of the question.

We'll let you know next week as soon as we spot the Garmin stand - watch out for the riot if all Garmin turns up with is glued together prototypes and yet more promises.

UPDATE: Judging by the varying and sometimes massive resolutions of the original "screenshots" (up to 1400x793) we're guessing these are actually mockups rather than straight screen grabs. You're not filling us with confidence here, Garmin.
