Build yourself a Mac netbook

Okay, so the Apple keynote at the Macworld Expo turned out to be something of a disappointment but while the tech world waits for the big fruit to take on the netbook market, you could always entertain yourself by modding an Eee PC to turn it into a Mac OS X-running ultraportable.

At least, that’s what a chap called Gregory Cohen did a few months back – and now he’s posted step-by-step instructions so the rest the world half a dozen other ultra-geeks can make their own Apple Mac netbook. Find out how after the cut.

Actually, you’ll really find out how by clicking the link at the bottom. But in summary you’ll need a drill, some glue, a saw and an OS X 10.5.x install disk. Oh, and you’ll also need an Eee PC 901 or 1000 that you don’t mind hacking to pieces and potentially rendering useless.

All that gathered, you’re ready to roll. According to Cohen once done – assuming all goes to plan – your reward will be a dainty Mac with working wi-fi, Bluetooth and webcam. But the microphone will be deaf and the on/off button won’t work. Have fun.
