Nokia 5800’s menu design is pretty standard, the icons are put up in a grid format. The submenus are quite intuitive but I still feel Nokia could have done better here. The phone has built in accelerometer which automatically changes the screen orientation from portrait to landscape when you tilt the phone. The accelerometer is not available in all the applications but it is there when you need it the most.
One million Nokia 5800 XpressMusic handsets and counting
Remarkable! It's only been on sale since this morning and the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has already shifted a million handsets. Well, perhaps we should add that that's globally - where the 5800 has been on sale for since last month.
Still, nicely coinciding with the UK launch, Nokia has announced its shipped (not sold, we note) its millionth 5800. Given that, until today, it's only been on sale in Spain, Russia and Hong Kong, that's not a bad start.
Obviously pleased to have broken through the seven figure barrier with its first touchscreen, Nokia Vice President, Jo Harlow said: "The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has been received very positively and this milestone is just further proof that people all over the world want a device that is not only a great music experience, but also makes the most of touch screen technology." So on message, that Jo.
We checked at 3.30pm today and the Regent Street store still had stock left, although we were told they were selling fast. Rather nicely, the good folk said they would hold on to one for you if you called ahead on 02074 623580 - just as long as you don't leave it too long.
