Windows 7 Beta download extension extended
You weren't one of the first 2.5 million and you missed the extended 24th January deadline. Jeesh! How many opportunities to download the Windows 7 beta do you need? Ok - we'll give you one more chance. Well, not us as such, but Microsoft. It's given another extension to the Windows 7 beta download, er, "window" - now widening it to 10th February.
Which just goes to show, it really wants you to check Windows 7 out, like really, and preferably forget all about that Windows Vista "Wow" business while you're at it.
As Microsoft puts it: "Because enthusiasm continues to be so high for the Windows 7 Beta and we don’t want anyone to miss out." In fact, so eager is Microsoft for you to make the Windows 7 leap, that even if you don't start your free beta download till 10th February, it'll give you two more days to finish it.
You'll still need to have your tech whits about you (nothing much more taxing than knowing how to backup Vista and burn a DVD from and iso image file) but otherwise it's all there on a plate. Just remember that the freeness of this beta only lasts till August, after which you'll have to reach for your Vista install disks or, presumably, lump up some sort of cash amount for Windows 7 proper.
Windows Team Blog has all the deets.
