Samsung NC20 and 'NC10 HSDPA' appear for UK pre-order

Samsung NC10Just three weeks ago, our sister mag, PC Pro, posted leaked details of Samsung's 12.1in, NC10 follow-up, the NC20. Now it's appeared at Dabs for pre-order.

As per the leaked user manual, the Dabs spec confirms a 1.3Ghz VIA U225 will be inside, rather than the 10in NC10's Atom. As expected, the rest is identical to its baby brother, with 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, a built-in 1.3 megapixel cam, Windows XP and that all-important 6 cell battery to help it compete with the growing (literally) army of 12in 'netbooks' already out there.

The larger screen makes for a higher 1280 x 800 resolution to the NC10's 1024 x 600, giving a few extra pixels of precious desktop real restate for your, er, spreadsheets. The larger frame also leaves space for a 'normal-size, notebook PC style keyboard' rather than the usual shrunken netbook array. There's even enough room left over for a '3 in 1' card reader - but as the '3' cards are SD, SDHC and MMC, we'll just call it an 'SD card slot', shall we?

£390.98 will get you one in either white or black. White will arrive first in around a week's time but, just as with the NC10, you'll have to wait a little while longer for the black version - probably around early March.

Also winging it's way to the UK, and available for pre-order, is the much longed for, HSDPA equipped version of the NC10, complete with the SIM-card slot omitted from the original UK-spec.

For reasons best known to Samsung / Dabs, it'll arrive early March and cost more than £100 more than a standard NC10 at £416.63. Think we could live with a dongle poking out the side for that money.

Oh, and while we're on about the NC10, a pink non-HSDPA edition is on its way too, again arriving around the Feb/March point for £321.39.
