Samsung announces Lapfit displays for laptops
Most laptops have VGA or DVI outputs, so adding a second screen is no great shakes.
However, few monitors have stands that sink low enough to match laptop displays, which can be frustrating when dragging the mouse pointer between the two.
You can now sleep easy, though, as Samsung has come to the rescue with its new Lapfit range of monitors. As you can see from the photo, the displays sit at roughly the same height as a built-in laptop screen.
The Lapfit displays come in 19in (LD190G) and 22in (LD220G) varieties - both models feature a widescreen resolution of 1,360x768-pixels and can also be tilted between 10° and 30° to match your laptop's screen. Other specs include a 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 4ms response time.
From the photos, the new screens look pretty swish, but despite the model's finger dangling tantalisingly close to the screen, there's no indication that they're touch-sensitive.
The screens use Samsung's Ubisync technology, which means they hook up direct to laptops (or desktops, for that matter) via USB, so you don't need to worry about VGA-DVI adapters.
As yet, there's no word on pricing or availability.
You could, of course, simply use a standard monitor and sit your laptop on a stand (or even a box) to get them at the same height, but where's the fun in that?
