Dell's Wasabi mobile printer likes phones - dislikes iPhones
If you've been crying out for a pocket-friendly portable printer for your mobile snaps (you have?), you're in luck. Dell's just officially announced its Wasabi PZ310 Printer.
Measuring a dinky 122x71x23mm, it produces equally teeny 2x3in (51x76mm) sticker-backed prints, using the same ZINK zero-ink technology as found in Polaroid's Digital Instant Mobile Photo Printer and its (long) forthcoming PoGo Instant Digital Camera.
The Wasabi can hook up to mobile phones and netbooks via Bluetooth for knocking off photo prints on the fly. It'll also connect to a camera via USB using the PictBridge port on the side.
However if you're an iPhone user, beware. Writing on the Direct2Dell blog, Chief Blogger, Lionel Menchaca, adds: "For a bit more clarification, the PZ310 works with many Bluetooth 2.0-enabled phones that support at least one of the following file transfer types: FTP, BPP, BIP or OPP. Unfortunately, the iPhone does not support any of these." Go Apple!
Still, if you live in the States and have just about any other Blutooth handset, you can get hold of one in pink, blue or black for a promotional $99 (£68) before it goes up to its $149 (£103) regular selling price. We've have put in a call to Dell to find out whether it's UK bound or not. We'll let you know as soon as we have an answer.
