Give your Acer Aspire One the touchscreen treatment
Adding touchscreen displays to netbooks is proving to be a popular hobby.
Various kits are available to buy, and now we're starting to see some detailed guides appear.
Last week a French site explained how to convert the Eee PC 900HA into a touchscreen marvel, and now a similar step-by-step has appeared for the Acer Aspire One.
This Aspire One guide originates from Italy, but with a little help from Google's translation service there's no need to first enrol in Italian for Beginners. As is always the case, translation isn't spot on, but it's perfectly understandable and detailed photos of the process are also provided. Warnings after the cut.
Of course, you could quite easily end up completely trashing your netbook (and there's little point running back to Acer if you do), but if you're handy with a screwdriver it makes for a nice little project.
You'll need to first get hold of the touchscreen panel - we found the same Hoda Technology model as used in the guide for sale on Ebay at £64.49, although shipping from Taiwan bumped it up to just over £82.
The good news is that you won't need to get a soldering iron anywhere near your treasured Aspire One since, once you've wrestled the chassis off, everything simply slots into place. Another bonus is that the kit also adds three internal USB sockets to the netbook.
