Gigabyte releases details of three new netbooks

by Julian Prokaza on Thursday 26 February 2009 Comment

Gigabyte netbooksCeBIT is almost upon us, and Gigabyte will be using the event to launch no less than three 10.1-inch netbooks – the Touch Note T1028, Booktop M1022 and Thin Note S1024.

As its name suggests, the Touch Note T1028 benefits from a touch-sensitive display - the screen is also rotatable, so you can use it tablet-style when scribbling down notes. It runs off an Intel Atom N270 processor/945GSE chipset combination, and pricing is expected to be around the £360 mark. Details on the other models after the break.

The rather clunkily-named Booktop M1022 is available with the Atom N270, but you can opt for a version with the ever-so-slightly faster N280 if you so wish. A special dock lets you stand it upright, presumably for reading ebooks.

The Booktop should sell for around the same as the Touch Note T1028, though it's not clear whether the dock comes as standard at this price.

Last but not least, the Thin Note S1024 sticks to an Atom N270 processor and will be available with either a 60Gb or 80Gb hard drive. Its dimensions haven't been announced, but going by the name this netbook should be fairly skinny. It's also pretty light, weighing in at just 890g.

As for availability, both the Thin Note S1024 and Booktop M1022 should be on the shelves by April, while the Touch Note T1028 will arrive a month earlier.
