Google Reader for mobile updated to add increased items per page
Google recently updated its desktop RSS Reader application to add a social networky ‘ Like ’ option for stories, and now its taken the tweak stick to the mobile version of the application.
Originally, the mobile Reader application (accessed via www.google.com/reader/i in a smartphone’s web browser, or through the Google Mobile application) only displayed 15 stories at a time.
Now, there’s the option to display up to 100. This makes far more sense when using the application over 3G or Wi-Fi, but even EDGE and GPRS users will benefit from being able to download a huge chunk of stories in one go rather than twiddling their thumbs every couple of minutes.
The new setting is accessed through the mobile Reader application — just scroll down to the bottom of your list of feeds in your smartphone web browser and click the Settings link. You can then specify the “Items per page” — 15, 25, 50 or 100. Alternatively, you can make the setting from your PC by going to http://www.google.com/reader/isettings.
Since Google Mobile Reader is web-based, this change applies to all smartphone platforms — Android, iPhone, Symbian and Windows Mobile.
Incidentally, this same Settings screen also lets you choose the page that opens first when you launch the mobile Reader and whether or not top open links in a new web browser window.
