T-Mobile launches Pulse Android PAYG smartphone

T-Mobile today announced its third Google Android-powered smartphone today — the Pulse. It’s also T-Mobile’s first PAYG Android handset and joins the pay-monthly G1 and Touch G2 models.

Unlike the HTC-manufactured G1 and G2 Touch handsets, the Pulse is actually the Huawei U8220, although it has the same tiny trackball just below the screen for navigation.

The Pulse runs Google Android 1.5 and its specification is fairly middling — a 3.5in (320 x 480) screen, 3.1 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS and HSDPA. The reported 3.5 hour battery life (presumably talk-time) isn’t too impressive, but this is a slim handset — just 13.5mm.

The T-Mobile Pulse will be available exclusively from T-Mobile in October and will costs £180 on a PAYG tariff. Until then, you can enjoy a few hands-on photos that Pocket Lint has managed to snag.
