Samsung announces new N Series netbooks and X120 CULV ultraportable

Samsung announced a number of new netbooks at IFA today, along with a thin-and-light CULV ultraportable.

The Samsung N130, N140 and N510 are all Intel Atom-powered portables and although details are thin on the ground at the moment, we do know that the first two models have 10.1in displays, while the N510 has an 11.6in screen with a 16:9 aspect ration and nVidia Ion graphics. Perhaps more notable is the purported battery life for the N140 — 11 hours.

Models will be available in black, white, blue and pink (these will all no doubt be known by some much less meaningful name), and they’re expected to be available in the UK some time later this month.

The Samsung X120, on the other hand, is a larger laptop based around the Intel Celeron M 723 CULV processor (just like in the Advent Altro ). It has an 11.6in screen and onboard HDMI, but that’s all we know at the moment. The price is thought to be around €699, or around £600.

On a related note, Engadget had cause to criticise the build quality of the all-plastic Samsung X120 at IFA, which prompted a Samsung rep to slip of his shoes and stand on one to demonstrate its toughness. Wacky.
