Toshiba JournE Touch tablet computer announced at IFA
The world may be waiting for Apple to unleash its take on the tablet computer, but in the meantime, anyone looking for an awkward hybrid of a smartphone and netbook need look no further than Toshiba — it announced the JournE Touch tablet today at IFA.
More details and a video of the announcement after the cut.
The JournE Touch has a 7in touch-screen and runs Windows CE 6.0 Pro (the underlying operating system for Windows Mobile 6). It’s only a prototype at the moment, but the 14mm thick JournE Touch can (or at least will) output 1080p HD video over HDMI and run Internet Explorer.
The photos show a bespoke front-end for access to various social networking services too, though it looks like the JournE Touch will stop short of being a full general purpose PC. Still, not bad for a predicted price of around €250 (around £220).
