Virgin Media to show off World Cup 2010 in HD

Extra HD channels from Virgin Media keep on coming. The latest news is that the provider has teamed up with ITV1 HD in time for the start of the World Cup on 2 April.
ITV1 HD looks set to offer a wide range of High Definition programming especially for football enthusiasts over the next few months, with upcoming highlights including the UEFA Champions League, The FA Cup as well as England international games.
This now means Virgin Media's TV customers, including those signed up to one of its 'triple-play' bundled broadband, phone and TV packages will be able to watch all of this summer's football World Cup in HD as all matches will either be shown on ITV1 HD or the BBC's HD channel (also available to Virgin Media viewers at no extra cost).
Additionally, some of ITV1's HD content will be available to view on demand on demand using the ITV Net Player, available on Virgin Media's TV platform.
Today, the provider also offered good news for Sci-Fi enthusiasts with the launch of its sixth new HD channel - SCI FI HD. Available to view from 13 April 2010 the channel looks set to broadcast the forthcoming UK premier of V as well as trusty Sci-Fi favourites such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Legend Of The Seeker and Sanctuary.
