LOVEFiLM launches on-demand film service over Sony TVs
DVD rental subscription service, LOVEFiLM has confirmed today it's teamed up with Sony to give access to over 67,000 titles directly through Sony Bravia devices.
As well as Sony Bravia Internet video TVs users will be able to browse and instantly watch titles through their Blu-ray players and Blu-ray Home Theatre Kits.
As part of the deal unlimited LOVEFiLM subscribers will be able to select the service as an icon on the menu bar of their Sony internet-enabled video devices, meaning they will be able to access films on demand without waiting for their postie. It's also been revealed users can also search for titles through categories such as genre or "most watched" and should eventually be able to manage their DVD and Blu-ray rental lists
Speaking on the new feature, Simon Calver, chief executive of LOVEFiLM, commented: "LOVEFiLM has changed the face of entertainment in Europe and with our famous online DVD rental service... Being able to take this service directly into the living room with Sony, enabling members to have access to thousands of instantly available titles is an immensely exciting development." He added: "We expect to roll out the delivery platforms and continue to invest in digital content in the coming months."
A preview of the TV streaming, available from April 2010 is available to view through the LOVEFiLM website.
