Sky to boost broadband speeds to up to 20Mb for all customers

sky logoSky Broadband has confirmed it will be trimming down its broadband choices from June this year, giving subscribers a choice of just two different packages.

The good news is, regardless of which broadband package you settle for, you will be able to make use of improved speeds of up to 20Mb.

First up is Sky's Everyday Lite option, free to Sky TV customers bundling in a Sky Talk telephone package. As well as up to 20Mb download speeds users will be given a monthly usage allowance of 2GB.

As Sky's existing broadband packages are phased out, this Everyday Lite option will be the standard upgrade option for existing Sky Broadband Base customers.

For heavier broadband users the other option from Sky will be its Sky Unlimited package. Although this offers the same "up to" 20Mb download speeds there is no monthly data cap here. To sign up for this deal Sky TV customers already subscribed to Sky Talk will have to pay an additional £7.50 per month.

Alternatively, if you would prefer not to sign up to a bundled Sky phone deal, the Sky broadband packages will set you back an additional £5 for Everyday Lite or £12.50 for Unlimited, per month. Sky broadband will only be an option if you're also signed up to Sky TV.

Speaking on the changes, Sky's director of Broadband & Talk, Delia Bushell, took the opportunity to clarify Sky's take on unlimited broadband: "Unlike some other internet service providers, Sky promises not to slow down the speed customers enjoy on its network at peak times, and in terms of usage, Sky's unlimited service really means unlimited."

As if sky broadband wasnt crap enough now they have to change it again.
And as for this " up to 20 MB ", what a con and an absolute joke, NOBODY with sky can get 20 mb, not even close so i dont know what they are thinking when they advertise this, i have 3 friends who stay right beside the sky exchange in erskine renfrewshire and even they dont get 20 mb they all get about 8mb if their lucky,
and why is it that only the new customers get the better deals, what about the loyal people who have been with them for years ( right from the start ) what do they get - nothing.

And as for the customer service, thats a joke as well, they are about as much help as a fart in a space suit, nomatter what kind of broadband problem you are having it allways seems to be the customers fault never the the other way around, its allways your line or your cable thats at fault its never anything to do with sky itself.
Well thats me had my moan so i will go now and hope that someone reads this and agrees with me.
