nice of you to advirtise virgins services
insted of getting to the bottom of the problem, yes we can now access Rapidshare
but eve with a RS prem account the download speeds are worse than a 10mb connection
when using a 50mb connection. yes i havespeeed tested and get a max speed of 6MB per sec using virgins speed tester.
Virgin Media customers unable to access file storage sites
Subscribers to Virgin Media's broadband network have reported they've been unable to access online file storage sites such as Rapidshare and MegaUpload across a number of dedicated tech forums including those of PC Advisor and Digital Spy.
The cause of the blocking is unknown although there is the chance it could be the result of a fault on the provider's broadband network. However, some customers have suggested lack of access could be a result of speed throttling.
Taking the time to respond to queries on the provider's Twitter page ( @virginmedia), a spokesperson for Virgin Media said it was aware there was a technical glitch and that it was working to restore access to the online storage sites as soon as possible. It denied purposely blocking access to the sites in question.
The official Virgin Media spokesperson commented: "We are aware of an issue whereby certain file upload sites were unavailable for Virgin Media customers from late evening Thursday 13 May. Virgin Media did not block these sites and we are investigating the root cause. In the meantime we have implemented a workaround, and customers should be able to now access these sites again. We apologise for any inconvenience."
In separate Virgin Media news, the provider has announced changes to its cable broadband and phone services and is currently offering out its up to 10Mb broadband package for an introductory price of £5 per month (for the first three months).
Providing users with unlimited downloads (subject to a fair usage policy) this bundle will rise to £12.50 a month when taken with a Virgin Phone line (an extra £11.99 per month). For this, subscribers will be able to make use of unlimited weekend calls to UK landlines and Virgin mobiles.
Alternatively, faster broadband packages are also available with a special introductory offer. Its up to 20Mb broadband and phone package will be priced at £10 a month for the first three months, rising to £20. Meanwhile, its up to 50Mb bundle will be priced at £33 for the first three months and then £38 a month (subject to a one-off £20 activation fee).
All of these promotional packages are based on a 12-month contract.

-

what is the point of texting the message if you carnt get through?????????
-

waste of time trying angry at virgin what are they going to do about it ?nothing!!!!
-

What's the point of this message? Very confusing,Have given up trying.
-

like the people above l,ve recieved a text to go to magicbox, there is no site to be found to enter the code, maybe it,s just done so we,ll sin up for something else???? least l no now it,s not just me.....
-

I received a text to say I had won a prize and to go to www.virginmedia.com/magicbox and given a password. After not finding any corresponding sites,I phoned my mobile service to explain. They said they had received several complaints and it looked like the texts were issued before the site had been set up.I was told it should be set up shortly.I keep checking but cant see anything to help!
-

i agree with elaine what's the point in sending the text if you cannot get through
-

Like others I have also received a text asking to log on to virginmedia.com/magicbox which I can not find anywhere, what is this about?
-

I''ve had the same problem, gave up in the end !
-

What on earth is going on - my experience as above. What a waste of time.
-

Like all these people i too received the the text but can not access the site its naughty of virgin to text all these people saying that a gitf is waiting for them when there appears to be not. Whats the point????????
-

hi i went on the website to get the gift on virgin media.com/magicbox and i went to type in the code that it gave me and it wouldent let me do it
-

Yes had text msg too..couldn't get through... another catch I guess...gets people thinking prize...then big let down...can't find site... rubbish.....don't waist my time send unneccesary text please
-

Samr problem as everyone above. Why send text if site not up and running?
-

same as everyone else ive had the same txt. im sure there wont be any great present waiting just another sales pitch
-

received same text just give up it will be nothing worth anything anyway branson can keep his millions
-

yes i also got the text and like everyone else sales
-

as usual rely on virgin to cock everything up , they couldnt arrange a piss up in a brewery, i would have sky but they cant fit it where i am and have given up with magicbox, maybe that was the magic it disappears before you find it
-

Same as others. I assume Virgin read complaints so note that at end of contract Virgin will not be on my list for any products.
-

i had same prob, wen i rang virgin none of them no what its about.whats the put trying when none of them have a clue
-

dont send texts if you cant access site its no good
-

yes got one of those too! what a waste of time and energy, just send me something next time like a holiday on one of your islands please richard, thats a good prize for being one in a million!!!!
-

I have also received a similar text asking me to log on to virginmedia.com/magicbox which i can not find anywhere, is this a scam or what?
-

I also spent time trying to raise this site Time wasted
-

What a joke this scam is by Virgin telling us all we won something then not set a site up to receive it
-

Well what a pointless exercise that text was just a waisting our time and and no end result .Why ask us all to visit a site that isn't set up if it's a April fools joke your far to late
-

Virgin, you got my hopes up...wheres the magic box?
-

i have wasted my time trying to get into vrginmedia.com/magicbox tofindout what i have won but cant get in is this a hoxe
-

i had a tex from virgin saying i had won a prize what a complete con this really was
-

like all the other's i also receoved the text and found nothing. to be honest i think that it is out of order. Virgin make a lot of money out of people like me and the other's that have received the same text, There is no excuse for a consern as big as Virgin to do this to it's customers. Make's me wonder if it's worth staying with the network. They obviously dont give a damn about it's customers, yo treat them like this
-

an utter waste time its a scam
-

got text same as all the others ,time wasting exercise
-

how do i get onto the magic box site
-

Tried today to access site as I too received text, could this be a scam???
-

I have been very happy with Virgin for all my phones,TV and Broadband. Now I wonder. Why treat us all like idiots.
-

Like all giant corporations Virgin is just one big con
owned and run by the big banks
anyone who remembers richard branson founder of virgin
a prat who started off flogging second hand records in portebello market until his mate the banker came along. -

had a txt to say have won something, and try and had no joy fed up, trying i think it is a rip off, people i would not bother trying if you get a txt, to say you have won, one big rip off, making me think about changing my phone suppier a cheap trick
-

I received a text message to say I was "One in a million"and Virgin had a gift waiting for me (My partner said it was a catch to it) and like the othes I can't access the site or unwrap my parcel either. Obviously there are several of us who are One in a million.
-

same problem as every 1 else with texts saying youve won a prize! at least o2 is genuine with their prizes, sure it was just a SCAM!!!.
, -

my prize was fantastic free tickets to world cup final with sir Richard
-

when i got a text sayin i was one in a million and i had a gift waiting for me,i got excited, and there aint even a site, what a load of cobbles.
-

confused of staffs still trying to spot the angle here or are they just useless..i'll go for the latter... magic box my !!!!!!!!
-

just like all of the above got same message complete waste of time. Might have to think about changing phone networks if Virgin thinks this is a good way of keeping customers interested!!!
-

After this Magicbox message and wasting my time. I have decided to look at what Sky will offer me. There must be a better package out there for TV/Internet/Mobile/Customer Service than Virgin.
-

I have also had a text to say I had a gift and could only get the same response as the people you have already informed you. It is a waste of time or is it a joke
-

received the same email as all the other suckers how many people
can be one in a million obvious con i use several virgin commodities not
for much longer -

You told me a fib. I am not one in a million at all. I am really hurt.
You must really try and be honest you know and stop emulating bankers and politicions. -

I have been avirgin customer for 17ysplus, it was one of the best, not so now, customer service gone right down the nick, wont help, wont change ur fone and even 1 helper was arguin with me tellin me gettin nothin we doin nothin. This magicbox thing another second rate job to get us wound u.since took over cable they usin telewest rules oly virgin name. a disgrace virgin
-

What a waste of time
-

Suffering same problem and similar emotions as the people before me. Perhaps it would help if Virgin sent another text explaining the reason and their intentions to eleviate the problem.
-

i want to know what i have won
-

i agreed with all un-happy consumers of virgin media why send out a bonus when you can't acess it
-

This is just a marketing strategy to waste our time.
-

I bet Mr Richard Bransons having a good laugh at our expense?
-

What an utter waste of time and energy "virginmedia" you should be ashamed!!!
Seriously considering looking into changing my service supplier (someone who does not waste peoples time) it would serve you right if you lost a great deal of your customers through this cheap and pointless scam. -

I have same prob as all you ppl here. What I never had I wont miss! Mistakes happen. Dont get upset just get a new supplier, plenty out there with better cheaper deals 2.:-D
-

why send a text about a gift if there is no web site
-

I also got text. Tried gtetting through.Very annoyed.
-

hadf ma mtext about winning something as usual could not log in to site
-

recieved message on Nokia mobile purchased from virginmedia with notified i had won a prize. i am a retired woman and should not get message that seem to be a con
-

whats wrong with virgin sending texts messages saying you won a gift but can,t back it up
-

I too received a text with a password. Lets face it, who wins something for nothing these days. I get letters every other day saying that i am going to be awarded a prize and that I have to ring a number which would cost a fortune for a claim number. The only person winning a prize these days is the Taxman.
-

Same as everybody else. What a con we cant all be one in a million. This rubbish should be banned.Cough up Virgin and it better be worth the wait!!!!
-

Yes i was just the same as all of the others the txt msg stating that, I, yes me, was one in a million.! aye right jst another fool flocking to the site to claim my free prize and to go to the site to find out its a fn con, as earleir comments said at least with o2 u do get said prizes!. well when my contract is up with virgin i am seriously considering changing networks as, there are better offers for the money i pay i.e. more txts more mins and unlimited internet usage!! another unhappy customer Mr.Branson maybe 1000's more thinking the same well you could lose a lot of us through this it may have been or meant nothing to u but people do want something back now and again. yours unhappily G Adams
-

not happy perhaps we should all pass these texts to the media and office fair trading after all it is false advertising, total waste
-

you can access the site using the browser on your phone, can't get it from a pc, however and its a big HOWEVER! You need adobe settings to access the webpage and guess what! most off virgins phones including mine don't support it!!! So in conclusion UTTER WAIST OF TIME! Think i'll subscribe to a company who really give you freebees, not a bunch of time wasters! Thanks for nothing virgin.
-

???? What was this all about?
-

unable to access supposed site wot r u playin at. if u want to keep your customers dont mess them about. remember its people like myself who made richard branson wot he is now.i know im certainly no millionnaire.
-

ive had the same txt sent 2 me mobile gone on web page got nothing its a con
-

its like the government promise u 1 thing and charge u a fortune and get nothing
-

I to like many before me with txt sayin that you won something and findin it very difficult to gain access.whats the point of bein a loyal costomer and not bein rewarded for it.
-

what a load of rubbish i won;t be bothered with any more txts from virgin again i;d advise everyone who gets these txts to do the same.
-

I used to work for VirginMedia but couldnt stomach the policies.Try not to get too angry at the CS rep , 9 times out of 10 its a young inexperieced school leaver with little to no skills or control over anything.Cany you imagine how difficult it was to leave full time employment and lose my home ? With VM it was easy, nobody wants to work there, some have no choice.Vm only understand one thing , money , tell them you are going to switch providers and recieve 6 months free service , guarenteed.
-

load of the usual rubbish dont other to contact me again unless you mean it !!!!!!!!
-

hello ive getting a txt off viginmedia saying i have a gift,,but unable to unwrap.! wots the crack there like?
-

it sounds like you preople have been scammed, i bet it had nothing to do with VM just spoofed txt message and spyware.
Better scan yo computer ! -

Not got the "magicbox" email, but getting mightily p-d off at the number of "Amazing HD, no extra monthly fee ... for as little as £5.50 per month..." leaflets I have received.
Virgin come over as a bunch of lying crooks at times.
When I report a fault it seems it's always a fault with my installation, requires an engineer call out, which they book, then cancel without telling me because it was their network problem after all. I have lost count of how long I have waited on customer service calls only to get someone who does not understand the issues only to dose out 'needs an engineer callout' like 'take an aspirin', and with accent difficulties half the time I cannot understand them and it seems they cannot understand me. Absolute nightmare when things go wrong.
It looks like Virgin are more interested in gaining customers than looking after those customers. -

I received the text from virginmedia to go to 'magicbox' and enter a password.
I did so, and recieved 3 discount offers, and a free day of internet browsing on my mobile phone. I've also had no problems accessing various file dump sites such as 'megashare', 'depositfiles' and 'rapidshare'. -

Same experience as all the others. Good to know it's not me going mad!!!!!
-

ive seen this problem before very missleading but speeds are about right as hosts play a crafty ie mb = megabit, MB = megabyte there are 8 bits to a byte so 6 * 8 = 48 megabit a second so not that far off
-

like the other people i recieved a text from virgin but even on 24th may still unable to reach the site ,i feel that after7 years with virgin they have decieved me if we as loyal paying customerswere all to leave and go to sky stand up and be a man offer us a free year to make up for this shoddy advertising .
-

I dont believe it! what a waste of time.Mr angry
-

As all other comments have said it is just a waste of MY TIME
-

I can't believe the number of people that actually think they won something. May I suggest if you guys get an email from a friendly Nigerian, telling you about the millions you've won, that you just stick it in your trash folder. You won't have won anything there, either.
Do what jon doe said and scan your computer. You've likely been infected with some sort of malware. And next time you get a winner notification for something that, A: you didn't enter and, B: hasn't been advertised, please take it with a very, very large pinch of salt.
It's fake. -

i to had a text telling me i had won something but the same as everyone nothing there what are virgin playing at
-

Cheap sales trick! to go with the poor & over priced T.V & internet service.
Used to respect Mr Branson & Virgin, Should have known better ?
This just adds insult to injury! -

I am just after sending Virgin a cheeky email about their Customer Services but on the magicbox thing I don't get where the problem was getting into it , just type in virgin magicbox in google and you can find it . However I wouldn't bother since it is a derisory offer of discounted Virgin wines or "Experience Days" . Utterly laughable . Virgin used to be great for CS but now they haven't a clue and are getting close to the way SKY have been . I swapped providers for 6 mths to SKY and changed back to Virgin for their superior Customer Services but I think I may have to rethink if they don't get their act together . I feel sorry for the CS folk who know their stuff because by the time we get to speak to one of them we're quite possibly irate at not getting to them sooner , eg I was on the phone on 3 occasions trying to get through to mobile broadband and was transferred on 2 of those occasions to cable broadband help and was charged 10p each time for the pleasure ! Very disappointed .
-

To illustrate my earlier point , give Vm a call and ask to speak with a manager , it wont happen. They will leave those kids to take the brunt of your wrath.Jason is absolutely right , they are more interested in new customers than treating the existing ones with any decency. My best advice is read each and every bill , then read it again , understand what it is you are being charged for and question anything doubtful.I lost count of the times people were overcharged for the simplest little things for years. It adds up and they might offer you the usual few months free service cos they wont refund you.I was there three years so i do know a little about how they operate. Its stomach turning.
-

judging by all the comments here from angry customers i dont intend wasting any more of my time either and stop sending text messages to my phone!!!!
-

Got the message on my mobile stating that I'm one in a million, and a prize awaits me; however, if everyone on here also were told they're one in a million, then I think Virgin have miscalculated the head count.
-

Listen I am not a freeloader, I am not sitting here waiting for something for nothing. BUT you text me, telling me I am a valued customer (a one in a million) and in appreciation I have a gift waiting for me.....Surely Virgin are too big a company to get involved in what appears a very shabby trick.
-

like several others I received a txt saying I had a prize waiting but couldn't get through to the site.
-

why take time out of your day to make someone think they have one then get them dissapointed when they have'nt and then waste their time looking on here to realise its a load of CRAP!!!!! get a grip
-

I too have just tried to claim my prize. Typical . Another rip off . Bet Richard Branson knows nothing about it. Wont bother again .
-

yup, i got same message what a waste of time cant believe, 1 in a million what a load of crap virgin at its best?!!!!!
-

Like everyone else i also recieved the same text and like everyone else found nothing, so virginmedia when you read this as the text said enjoy!
-

I had the text ages ago, completely forgot about it, checked it today and the site was working but it said the offer had now closed!!! LOOOL
-

I received a text message informing me if I went on to virginmedia,com/magicbox I would be entitled to unwrap a gift. I have tried many times -USELESS and looking at the list above me on this page I am not alone. Fingers out please and let us know.
-

I think Virgin Media need to rethink there game plan , or is that the con plan. One very important thing they have forgotten is we the public are their Bread and Butter , i think they should tread very carefully and treat customers with respect and stop insulting peoples intelligence, and making fools of us, by now i am sure you can guess that i have recieved the same text , but i am afraid thats life in a world of cheap tricks , conning people and advertising. Great lengths some companys will go to.
-

this is so bad i got on the website then put in my mob number and password ges what it said sorry this is now closed!!!!!!!!!!
-

Had this message last night saying i was one in a million,,,they should refrase it ....I am one out of a milliaon....ha ha ! . . . .won`t` bother even trying ...!
-

what a complete waste of my time,?looking for the gift to unwrap, a complete con.
grow up virgin and stop wasting peoples time. -

well same as loads of others virgin sends message to say u have won a prize but cant get onto the site. well it cant be much of a prize if the site doesnt exist. maybe virgin will learn from theyre mistakes when they read our messages
-

Why is Virgin so bloody unreliable ? ...and expensive too.Wasted time on Magicbox then
tried downloading their umpteenth "Email upgrade" and everything crashed
Bloody useless. -

The prize is well worth having.......when I managed to get on it came up with "this offer has now closed"
There are loads of other providers out there that we could ALL change to and maybe we should? -

I,m one in a million-----yeh one of a million who can't get through.
Disgusted !!!!!!! -

This is a huge con and serves only to irritate everybody concerned. Time for Virgin to make amends. Get on with it. Shortchanged
-

Virgin don't waste my time again...will find a new provider who I hope I can trust!!!
-

As anybody managed to win a prize on this con!!,all i got when punching in mobile number and password was "Offer is now closed" frustrating to say the least!!.
-

im not happy that this msg got send 2 my phone and then cant get anything.what a time waster.con!!!!!!!!!!!! ill be finding a new provider.............
-

Glad i'm not the only 1 2 b taken 4 a tw*t. Thought it was 2 good 2 b true....Virgin r a waste of space!
-

an absolute waste of my time if you cant do something simple like replying, then what is the point in sending the message in the first place?
-

I am sick of trying magic box what a con has anyone won anything i dont think so?
-

Where's my prize ?
-

Thought that I would add my name to the "DUPED PERSONS LIST" my text says Enjoy!
Enjoy what? -

Well now, I've had my mobile phone with Virgin for nearly five years, and I think it's been an excellent service and I've no plans to change networks. OK so Virgin have made a mistake and some of you, by the sound of it, are pretty annoyed, and a few of you even feel that you have been ripped off in some way
Well I think it's quite funny really, none off you know what it is that you've missed out on, none of you have contracts that say you are due to receive anything, so why all the Hoo-Har, I know its good to get something for nothing now and again, but would it really have made that much difference to your lives? I seriously doubt it.
So please lets all just take a deep breath and relax and give Virgin a chance to sort things out.
Having said that, an apology would be a good starting point. -

where the hell is my prize
-

virgin media is the worst internet provider ever i carnt create any email accounts access any Download sites or play any games the only thing i can do is play videos on youtube or go on facebook virgin media better sort this out i havent had any problems with my internet dongle or talk talk internet if virgin doesnt sort this out soon im unsubscribing from virgin and goint to Sky :[
