UK broadband providers to do battle at the 2010 ISPA Awards

The Internet Service Providers' Association (ISPA) has announced the finalists for the 12th Annual UK Internet Industry Awards with broadband providers Orange and NewNet highlighted for four nominations.

The finalists of the majority of categories were selected based on three months of testing by ISPA's technical testing partner, Epitiro. We'll find out who came out on top at the awards ceremony which will take place on 8 July at the Grosvenor Marriott Hotel.

The spotlight is on for the Best Consumer Fixed Broadband category with BE Broadband, Karoo (Kingston Communications), NewNet, O2 Broadband and Virgin Media all in the running. Last year, this title went to O2. The race for best mobile broadband is also sure to be hotly contested.

For the title of Best Business Fixed Broadband the finalists are Claranet, Entanet International, Fluidata, NewNet, Timico and Urban Wimax. Here, Claranet hopes to retain the top spot.

Speaking on the event, ISPA secretary general, Nicholas Lansman, commented: "Every year the ISPA Awards rewards the UK's top Internet companies after a process that involves thorough technical testing and judging from an independent panel. I would like to congratulate all of the finalists and look forward to welcoming them to the Awards gala dinner ceremony, which looks like being one of our biggest to date."
