BT launches value bundle deal for Sky Sports 1 and 2
On Monday Broadband Genie reported on a significant agreement made by BSkyB to provide the wholesale supply of Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 for BT.
Now, further details on pricing have been announced with BT boasting it's able to offer the best value deal for Sky Sports 1 and 2 to customers for £16.99 a month.
BT Vision customers are being given the opportunity to add these additional channels to their package for the extra monthly price on a rolling month-by-month contract. Alternatively, if customers only want to add one of the sports channels to their deal this is also an option for £11.99.
The better savings come when customers choose to sign up to a bundled broadband, phone and TV deal on a 24-month contract. Here, with a 'total sports package' from BT Vision prices start at £6.99 for Sky Sports 1, ESPN and 'on demand' sport or £11.99 for both Sky Sports channels, ESPN and 'on demand' sport.
BT claims the £11.99 bundle would save Sky customers £205 per year and Virgin Media customers £281 per year when compared to equivalent deals.
BT customers will be able to sign up to these fresh packages from today and hopes to attract football fans keen to get in on the action before the Premier League season kicks of on 14 August.
Recent research conducted by BT found approximately 4 million more people in the UK would be interested in signing up for Sky Sports channels, but felt it was too expensive.
The agreement to provide Sky Sports channels to BT on a wholesale basis was a result of ruling from telecommunications watchdog Ofcom. It demanded Sky should wholesale Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 at regulated prices to rival service providers earlier in the year.
