Apple acknowledges iPhone 4 fault

A statement issued by Apple on Friday has admitted that there is an issue with the reception on the new iPhone 4 device. The Californian computer giant has stated that the problems centre around the number of bars that display the apparent reception, rather than the actual signal being received on the phone.

The statement has left some users feeling a little bewildered after reports in the media stated that the problem is caused by the way the phone is held. Odder still is the suggestion that this is an issue that has been present since the first incarnation of the iPhone was released.

Apple has added that they will be offering a software fix in the next couple of weeks, although the company appears dismissive when it comes to acknowledging that there is any real fault with the iPhone 4. "We were surprised when we read reports of reception problems, and we immediately began investigating them," the company stated in its letter issued on Friday.

Ever vocal Apple fans have been quick to make their feelings known on many forums and blogs, as well as bombarding Apple itself with emails about the disappointing signal problems. Apple continues to state that the wireless performance on the iPhone 4 is the "best we have ever shipped".

While some iPhone afficiando's have been praising the new phone on user forums, Apple has been duly apologetic to the others who've been experiencing difficulties with the signal on their handset, as their statement added: "For the vast majority of users who have not been troubled by this issue, this software update will only make your bars more accurate. For those who have had concerns, we apologize for any anxiety we may have caused."

Across 10 years I sold hundreds of thousands of pounds of Apple equipment to a variety of markets. During that time I never once met with apple in the UK beyond the usual ra ra sessions of hey here's a new product now go out and sell it to your user base and make us all some money.

At the end of 10 years when I eventually met the channel manager for all us authorized resellers I said nearly 10 years and I haven't seen you once.

He replied "I've got over 200 resellers I cant be expected to visit all of them."

I told him "I have over 200 customers and I've carried your box through the door of all of them!"

Now as a reseller we were fundamentally power users, Fanboys with a screw driver! We cried when they dropped Newton like trekkies in tears at the demise of a good character.

For me this is the true physics of the Apple Market Place. A forgiving fan base that colludes with the marketing engine of a company and who like druggies are prepared to forgive their dealers anything. I saw this in my customers who bought duff apple product and I see it now in the speeches and excuses of all those faithful iphone users out there.

Apple's strength has never been their product its the people that use and DON'T use them. Its cool to hate Microsoft and love apple.

The market is king not the product, basically iPhone is just another mp3 player with a phone and a camera.
