Mixed fortunes for mobile and broadband services in best British company survey
Pownum, a company rating website, has recently completed a UK tour in a bid to find the best company in Britain. During their whistle-stop trek across the country they visited Birmingham, Edinburgh, Manchester, Cardiff and London.
Four key industries were highlighted including TV & Broadband, Mobile, Utilities and Banks. After speaking to a total of 1,288 people Pownum has been able to reveal their findings. Interestingly for TV & Broadband and Mobile users, Vodafone and O2 were both featured in the top five across all of the industries.
Pownum also asked people to name their 'Perfect 10', but none of the TV & Broadband and Mobile companies made it to the number one spot. Waitrose took that accolade with 112 nominating the supermarket chain out of a total of 435 who could make a top ten selection.
Even more surprising was the fact that banks received the highest average rating, with HSBC doing best of all with 6.78 out of 10. The average for banks was 5.35. Broadband providers, on the other hand, fared rather badly, with ISPs receiving an average of 4.67 out of 10 across the country. TalkTalk, 3 Mobile and Orange all landed in the bottom five across all industries alongside Santander and British Gas.
The Pownum findings revealed that many consumers hop from one deal to another as soon as their contract expires in a bid to get better service, only to be disappointed. One of the main bugbears highlighted during the survey was that consumer’s continue to tire of overseas call centres. Similarly annoying was the fact that customers had to speak to multiple members of staff in order to get issues resolved.
