Orange fixes data service problem

Yesterday's data problems experienced by Orange mobile broadband and smartphone customers have now been resolved, according to the ISP. It has also given full details of what caused the problems, and apologised, which is refreshing. 

An Orange spokesperson told Broadband Genie: "Further to some data access problems witnessed on our network yesterday, we can confirm that normal service has been fully restored.

“The outage was caused by an unusual software issue, which combined with a separate and localised hardware failure, both happening at the same time. This affected a small number of APNs and meant that some, but not all, of our mobile data customers had problems accessing the mobile Internet.

“We'll continue to monitor network performance closely, and would like to apologise once again for any inconvenience caused."

    was working again last night even able to watch some baseball
    this morning about 9 am ok still but by dinnertime and upto date no access again so clearly it hasnt been fixed

    Friday 20th 15:02 and still can not get onto the internet with my mobile (link not available) not a happy camper, its been 2 days now its not good enough may be 02 or vodaphone next time

    Mine Iphone is still not working! Worked briefly this morning and is off again. There is still an automated message when you ring them also.

    Despite Orange assurances that the problem has been fixed - it hasn't - network appears to have gone down again and this is confirmed when you phone them. No estimated time for fix - seems like Orange are struggling - this is the third time in as many months that the data network has collapsed. Worse thing of all is the dreadful customer service.

    Mine was down yesterday and this morning, I read somewhere to turn my phone off, take the battery out for 10 seconds, put it back in, switch phone back on, did this and it worked, might have been a coincidence, but it's worth a try. But I still can't seem to send or receive picture messages.
    It's ridiculous that Orange have not put the fact that there were/are problems on their website, good customer service!
