Motorola adds two funky new Android smartphones to its current range
Handset manufacturers Motorola has unveiled a brace of new smartphone's with both being due for release before the end of the year.
First up is version two of the Milestone, imaginatively monikered the Milestone 2 (pictured right), which features a 3.7-inch 480x854 resolution touchscreen that slides up to reveal a nicely laid out QWERTY-style keyboard. It motors along on a GHz chip running Anroid 2.2 (Froyo), has 8GB of built-in storage and can also be boosted to 32GB using SD cards.
There's a 5-megapixel camera on board, which is essentially the same as the earlier incarnation, although the big bonus point with the Milestone 2 is that it can also capture 720p video. Connectivity looks to be all in order, with 802.11n Wi-Fi, which can also turn it into a Wi-Fi hotspot meaning other enabled devices can tap into the signal.
Second smartphone on the list is the Defy, a rather slick and stylish looking handset that is also built to withstand day-to-day punishment including being immersed in liquids for 30 minutes or so. A 3.7-inch touchscreen, 800MHz processor plus 2GB of integral storage comes as standard. Both the Defy and Milestone 2 also feature Motoblur, the Motorola widget-based interface.
No confirmation of prices has so far been given, although both handsets look set to be available before the end of the year.
