Nokia looks set to do battle with Apple and Android with launch of the new E7

Struggling Finnish handset producer Nokia is hoping to get a spring back in its step by unveiling the new E7 at the Nokia World event in London next week. It's thought that the event will also herald the hotly tipped N8 handset too, which will be the first Nokia phone to be based around the Symbian 3 operating system.

The beleaguered handset manufacturer has been struggling in recent times, faced with the combined deluge of successive iPhone models and a burgeoning smartphone marketplace dominated by the Android operating system. Both new models are seen as a chance for the once innovative handset developer to claw back sales from its rivals.

Details are sparse so far on what features will be available on either of the phones, with the E7 rumoured to have a full QWERTY keyboard and 640x360 display. The device will also reportedly come with touchscreen functionality, and could theoretically become a slider version of the N8.

The N8 should pull in some punters with the promise of a 12-megapixel camera featuring Carl Zeiss lens and Xenon flash. It also has HD quality video recording, film editing software and Dolby surround sound. Customers can also enjoy apps from the Ovi Store, while the whole thing is encased in a rather nice aluminium shell.

What remains to be seen, however, is if Nokia can ever be seen as a cool brand to own now that the likes of Apple and even HTC or Samsung produce smartphones that are seemingly irresistible to the handset-buying public.

Unless Nokia improves the Quality of its high end phone it will not get popularity. I am not talking of features Few cases
    1. My friend had to change 2 high end nokia phones because s/w malfunction spending close to Rs40K
    2. Nokia need not get pressurized to release handset without reliability test.
    3. Usablity of Nokia which once upon a trademark now gone forewver
    4. A phone where Email is provided if I type my email address santosh.nath@gmail.com it doesnot allow me to set up the Email account. I don't know how they are releasing handset in market without such basic test.
