Apple iPhone users suffer more alarm problems while some miss New Year altogether
Many Apple iPhone users missed New Year deadlines and appointments, thanks to the continuing technical issues with the problematical alarm built in to the smartphone.
A glitch in the device meant that any revellers had their alarms cancelled on New Year’s Eve, which left social networking channels and message boards lighting up like Christmas trees with complaints from owners.
There has been a knock on effect across Europe and Asia too, with many Apple iPhone owners moaning that they didn’t get an alarm call in time to get them out of bed of the first day back at work either.
Apple had already suggested that the problem would be fixed by Monday January 3, but users are still reporting issues. On January 2, in a statement released to the Macworld publication, Apple said that it was aware of the problem and that normally service would be resumed the same day.
Unfortunately, for many owners of the handset this did not seem to be the case. It’s believed that the issue could be due to a software bug preventing single alarm settings on the iPhone 4 as well as older versions of the phone that have had newer versions of the OS installed on them.
The incident is a further embarrassment to Apple after it suffered a similar debacle when the clocks changed in the Autumn of last year. On that occasion many iPhone users were left in their beds due to alarms failing to go off.
