Samsung Galaxy Nexus problems: Google and Samsung fess up
Just to prove its not only BlackBerry and Apple that are having smartphone launch issues, Google and Samsung have jumped onto the bandwagon - some would say not for the first time, but I doubt Apple will be suing them this time.
Both Samsung and Google have released statements saying they are aware of a “volume issue” in the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the flagship handset that launched with the latest version of Google’s Android OS (version 4, Ice Cream Sandwich) this month. They said the issue would be corrected in a software update “as soon as possible” – predicted to be next week.
According to reports the volume drops out completely on the phone, while the volume controls become unresponsive for a few seconds. The problem is being reported across all connectivity types (2G, 3G, Wi-Fi) as well as being connected with various applications, as well as calls. This of course makes the phone completely unreliable for anyone experiencing the issue – much in the same way the Apple iOS 5 battery issues are affecting iPhone 4S owners.
Until now, the Samsung galaxy Nexus has received very positive reviews. The feel, weight, processor and screen of Samsung’s handset have been praised, while new Android features such as Beam (for sharing photos, contacts etc) and multitasking improvements have also got the thumbs up.
