'Celebrity' Big Brother 2012 to be sponsored by Plusnet
In what some may see as a strange marketing move, good honest Yorkshire broadband provider Plusnet is set to sponsor the embarrassing desperate 'Z' lister squabble fest that is Celebrity Big Brother.
While we're not ones to judge, it seems ever so slightly bonkers to spend 2011 promoting yourself as 'good honest broadband from Yorkshire', only to start 2012 shoving your name on this kind of nonsense for a six-figure sum.
What on earth wags, TOWIE 'stars', X-Factor (sponsored by TalkTalk) failures and Eastenders cast-offs have to do with good or honest, not to mention Yorkshire, is anyone's guess.
We can only assume that the clever people over at Plusnet saw the success of TalkTalk's sponsorship of The X-Factor and weighed in at the price level they could afford. That said, with TalkTalk's customer numbers still on the decline, it can't have done them that much good.
Of course, millions of viewers will probably tune in to see this parade of pillocks pout at each other, so maybe we're wrong. But as Plusnet is one of the better broadband providers out there right now, it's a shame to see them stooping to this. We liked their tele ads too!
Celeb Big Bro or not, Plusnet has some fantastic deals on home broadband so if you're in the market for a new contract this new year, be sure to put them on your shortlist.
