The next new kids craze: Inspiration Works Kurio, the tablet PC for four to 15 year-olds

Just in case there was any doubt that tablet PCs were here to stay, Inspiration Works is aiming to get children as young as four into them with its Android powered Kurio slate.

The Inspiration Works Kurio should be in UK stores in July 2012, with a price tag between £150-200; a fraction of top-end tablets such as the Apple iPad.

According to The Register, the Inspiration Works Kurio is being launched this week at Toy Fair 2012 alongside a raft of kiddie friendly tech. It has a user interface suitable for children (we thought it was already?), plus detailed parental controls.

Parents can set everything from what apps can be downloaded to what types of content can be assessed at what times of day, alongside multiple accounts with different settings if you’ve got a bit of a brood.

Better still, the parent can set up their own account on their and use it as a fully-fledged standard Android tablet, including full access to the Android Market.

The Inspiration Works Kurio will apparently come in a protective rubber case and be available in seven, eight and and 9.7-inch versions. It has a USB port, 4GB of internal memory (expandable via MicroSD cards) and a camera.

To be honest, we shouldn’t be too surprised: Inspiration works has already brought us learning aids such as Peppa Pig’s First Laptop and Little TV, alongside similar products for Fireman Sam and Postman Pat fans. My Little Moon Rocket coming soon…
