O2 offers tech support, no fix no fee
O2 has launched a new service for it's mobile broadband customers - technical support.
With so many people still genuinely confused by mice, modems and mobile broadband, O2 could find itself with a lot of takers for the new service, which it has imaginatively named 'O2 Tech Support'. According to O2, the service will cover all aspects of technical support and advice, from sending emails, to formatting your hard drive, combatting viruses or setting up software.
So how much will all this expert advice set you back? Well, either you can pay monthly, with a minimum 3-month term which will cost you 'from' £7.34 per month, or you can choose a pay-per-use basis from £14.69. Interestingly O2 has also said that the pay-per-use option has a 'No Fix - No Fee' promise, so at least you won't get stuck with a bill if it turns out that they can't help you.
Jonathan Earle, head of Pay Monthly at O2 commented “Customers want a one stop shop where they can buy a product, get support, advice and a fix if things go wrong. That is what O2 tech support will provide. In addition as a guarantee if we can’t fix it we won’t charge the customer”.
O2 Tech Support is intended to provide additional help and support beyond the company's standard customer service, but it is to be hoped that this doesn't result in perfectly genuine mobile broadband setup enquiries being routed to the chargeable Tech Support service.
