Apple iPhone rumoured for move to Orange

As notes on the new iPhone 3G have been found lurking on Orange's intranet site, rumours are spreading O2 is close to losing its exclusivity deal with Apple.

Spotted on Tech Radar, a screen grab of the alleged iPhone selection was provided by the iPhoneBlog. If this screen turns out to be true, generally models featured on Orange's intranet site turn up on shelves within six to eight weeks.

iPhone rumours are frequent, but this latest spout of gossip coincides with reports Apple will be releasing details of its next iPhone model around the same time.

Both MSN and Tech Radar have suggested O2's recent move to tie new iPhone customers into a two year deal insinuates it has no plans to stock the much anticipated new model.

Orange currently stocks the iPhone in other countries outside of the UK.

I sincerely hope Orange doesn't become the exclusive supplier of the iPhone in the UK. I left Orange for T-Mobile because of the former's poor customer service. I'm waiting until June to see if a new model is announced.

Wait for the Palm Pre too - it looks like its going to be an excellent phone along with its Web OS and Synergy software. Having said that it would be good to see what the Iphone has in store with their allegedly new model.

Good times? I think so lol. Again what carrier supplies the Iphone shouldnt matter, surely apple know now it would be better to support all networks to increase sales, as certain people dont wish to leave vodafone, tmobile or orange. If they do then that would mean better prices and tariffs for the customers.

Me too. I wouldn't go back to Orange if you paid me.

Customer service and thier website was tedious.
I was told countless times to try later when trying to buy credit.
    This went on for years.
The signal coverage is awful in my area also.
Lastly there would inexplicably be no signal at all for days at a time with no explanation.

    In a word.
    Pants.

Hope this rumour turns out to be true. I deal with Orange Business Customer service on a regular basis, and have heard they have apparently received config files for the iphone. Who knows.
