Can WiMax beat off Mobile Broadband?

There was always a belief that WiMax would cover the entire globe and from that point, there would be no need for anyone to use a fixed line broadband service anymore. However, for many reasons the future of WiMax has been held back and has only managed an appearance in a few locations so far. Although it has been greeted with some success in these locations.

Even so, with the introduction of mobile broadband by most of the internet service providers around the world, could this be the end of a global WiMax network?

WiMax had the potential to be the next stage of internet development, yet because of various reasons this has not happen.

Mobile broadband has stormed into the mobile communications sector, and has proved to be an enormous success, despite some teething problems and connection speed concerns. Nevertheless, so far there is no contest and mobile broadband wins hands down.
