Carphone Warehouse release new quarterly results
The Carphone Warehouse ( TalkTalk, AOL) has released its third quarter results encompassing figures up until the end of September 2008. The release showed that the total broadband subscriber base has remained the same since the last quarters results with a total figure of 2.8m.
ISPreview reported that the reason behind the uneventful subscriber base figures was that 93,000 un-reconciled accounts were excluded from Carphone Warehouse's customer base. This was a result of both "administrative issues" and "migration problems".
Speaking on the quarterly results, Charles Dunstone, CEO of Carphone Warehouse, said: "Within the Fixed Line business, we have continued to grow the broadband base steadily in a slowing market. TalkTalk, in particular, has performed very well, as customers are increasingly recognising that it offers outstanding value combined with a significantly improved customer experience".
"Having complete the AOL Broadband migration, we now have a fully reconciled cusomer base. This has resulted in a reduction of 93,000 customers from the base, many of whom were not paying or were not connected to the network. In view of the pressure on family budgets we plan to re-price AOL services and move people to TalkTalk with incremental line rental services more quickly than previously planned."
It was documented that AOL's net additions were 82,000 whilst TalkTalk's was 168,000. Carphone Warehouse's unbundled (LLU) network customers was shown to have risen 47 per cent year on year.
