Coaches with WiFi: Filling the gap between home and the airport lounge

Business and holiday travellers using a coach as the main form of transportation to get to the airport may be able to stay connected right through their entire journey as coaches operating from Manchester and Stansted look set to be kitted up with WiFi.

Using Icomera's Moovbox M200 broadband system all passengers will be able to get connected provided they take a suitable wireless device on board with them at no extra cost other than the coach fare.

Speaking on the offering, Graham Hayden, managing director at Excel Passenger Logistics, said: “We want passengers to enjoy the very highest level of service and the installation of free WiFi on our fleet is a major part of our offering.” He continued: “ For international passengers, the presence of free Wi-Fi avoids expensive data roaming fees that make using 3G connections abroad so unattractive.”

The free WiFi network seems to be expanding fast. Yesterday, internet giant BT announced it was to install its Openzone service across 77 campsites in the UK, providing internet access to British holidaymakers.
