Consumers aren't dissatisfied enough with broadband, says analyst

The roll-out of next-generation broadband could be held up by a lack of consumer dissatisfaction, according to one analyst.
Ian Fogg, principle analyst Forrester Research, has indicated that he believes that "pent-up dissatisfaction" - normally considered to be a bad thing - will actually act as a positive force in terms of moving broadband technology on to the next phase. However, with most customers currently satisfied with their broadband connections, there is little impetus to develop newer, faster broadband technologies.
Mr Fogg is concerned about the business implications of delayed next-gen roll-outs; and points out that while the next generation of broadband could have a very positive impact on online business solutions, the situation now is very different from the days of dial-up, when the shift to faster connections and flat-rate fees meant that there was huge consumer demand for the upgrade.
