O2 to offer home phone service to broadband customers

O2 made an announcement today it’s soon to offer existing home broadband customers the chance to also receive a home phone service through its network as well.

From March this year this offer will be available exclusively to existing fixed-line broadband customers, forming a bundled deal.

Speaking on the announcement, Sally Cowdry, UK marketing director at O2 said: “This is the most important launch for us in the home space since we entered the broadband market and is part of our strategy to evolve beyond mobile to a leading connectivity brand.” She continued: “We know how many of our customers value the convenience of paying for their home phone and broadband together with no hidden extra costs, and we will be bringing the same commitment to quality of service with our home phone service as we have successfully established with our broadband.”

Two different home packages will be available to O2 Home Broadband customers but they will need a working BT landline. For those who want unlimited calls to UK homes at the evenings and weekends the price will be set at £9.50 per month. Alternatively, an “Anytime” package is also available for £12.50 per month. With this option callers are given unlimited calls to UK homes, 0845/0870 numbers as well as landlines in over 20 international countries (subject to a fair usage policy).

The international destinations on the Anytime package include the likes of Australia, Canary Islands, France, New Zealand, Spain and Greece. It’s also possible to call mobile phone numbers in Canada and the USA.

All packages include call services such as Hide My Number, Last Caller ID and Last Number Delete. However, it’s also possible to add-on services such as Voicemail, Call Waiting, Caller Display and Call Barring for an additional monthly fee.

one question since bt actually owns these line this also means extra cost on the price plan you join up to so example 9.50 from 02 and future line rental of about 12 quid bring the total up to almost 20 quid
talk about no extra cost this is there way of getting customers to join but they dont tell you the full story untill you see your first bill shocking stuff

The £9.50 and £12.50 per month includes the line rental so no it means more bills from BT.
