Orange to offer mobile broadband MacBooks

Orange is rumoured to be close to a deal with technology giant Apple which will see it supplying subsidised MacBooks with its mobile broadband deals.

Laptop deals are not a new thing, but this is the first time that Mac users have had a look in - as this is the first such deal Apple has entered into in the UK. The MacBook features all of Apple's usual neat design features, and thanks to Apple's phenomenal marketing department is one of the more desirable laptops on the market.

According to reports, the new deal will launch this summer, as the result of a volume commitment from Orange. The laptops do not feature on-board mobile broadband, but will come with one of Orange's mobile broadband dongles, on a 24 month contract. No pricing has yet been released, although with the machines starting from around £700, monthly contract rates could be relatively high, and its safe to say that when they do become available you won't be getting something for nothing.

I gather these companies seem to think we are zipped up the back, who in there right mind would spend that sort of money on a crap provider like Orange? I was with then for eighteen months to get a free playstation but only cost me £20pm, and it is the s**test service provider on the planet.

What can I say, but at least they're not pairing up with o2 again!
That is the sole reason why I haven't got an iPhone yet.

Orange as a network provider are average, at least I can get reception where I live with Orange. o2, forget it!

Apple have a decent range of machines, they all work very well and the OS is very efficiently in comparison with Window Vista, which is a nightmare. The other perks are, you'll have a virus free machine which running on a Linux based system is also rock solid. Apple's browser, Safari is also pretty decent.
The built in web cam and other iLife applications are fantastic, and in general, Apple's own apps, such as iWork, is significantly cheaper than MS Office and it does the same job.
The only thing I can say about .doc and .xls files it is that not all files as compatible, there are formatting changes, but you get the raw text, and that's all that matters.

Call me biased, but they are so much better and a mobile broadband deal with an average provider can only benefit browsers and the increase of Apple users, it's a shame that Apple charge more for their machines, but any Apple don't make duff products.
