TalkTalk Group snaps up troubled Tiscali

It's official. The financial suffering of Tiscali is finally over as it's been announced TalkTalk has successfully snapped up the UK arm of the troubled internet service provider in a £236 million cash deal.

This financial handshake now means a new, largest consumer broadband provider has been formed, responsible for over 4.25 customers and covering over 25 per cent of all UK households.

Today's announcement ends uncertainty for remaining Tiscali customers. For months now, many have been dangling on a thread, unsure whether or not their broadband connections would remain live. Now, not only will also former Tiscali customers be able to maintain their connection, it has also been confirmed they will be able to keep hold of their existing email addresses.

 

 

Speaking on the acquisition, Charles Dunstone, CEO of TalkTalk Group (parented by Carphone Warehouse) said: “Six years ago, no one could have imagined we would build the largest residential broadband provider in the UK, but our determination to offer incredible value with the latest technology has propelled us to being the most popular provider in the country.” He continued: “Combing Tiscali with TalkTalk creates a unique platform that will allow us to innovate faster and provide and even better service for our enlarged customer base.”

Now agreed, the deal is due for completion at the end of June.

What do I need to do to make sure I have uninterrupted phone and broadband?
Absolutely nothing. We’ll ensure your service continues automatically.

Can I keep my Tiscali email address?
Yes, your email address remains the same.

Do I still contact Tiscali with questions about my account?
Yes, Tiscali customer services is still the place to go for all questions about your existing service.

Is there any paperwork?
No, your contract remains the same and don’t you don’t have to fill in any forms

    What about those of us who also have Tiscali TV and free calls. How do we go forward?
