Teething problems for Sky Player and Xbox 360 online TV

Broadband provider Sky is experiencing some problems with the recent launch of its online TV service using Microsoft’s Xbox 360 consoles.

Unfortunately, the set-up has hit a snag meaning some Xbox Live subscribers have been unable to access the service, leaving only an error message on the screen.

According to reports from the BBC, Microsoft were forced to temporarily suspend the service due to “unprecedented levels of simultaneous demand.”

Speaking on the hiccup, a spokesperson for Microsoft commented: “We apologise to all customers that have not being able to experience Sky Player on Xbox 360, we reassure them that this is being rectified at present and we thank them for their patience.”

A similar service which launched months ago, giving Nintendo Wii consoles users the chance to access BBC iPlayer also suffered similar problems when it first launched.

Users have been advised they will require broadband speeds of at least 2Mb in order to fully enjoy Sky Player on the Xbox 360. Live TV for customers subscribed to Sky Broadband Unlimited or Multiroom will be free. However, non-Sky TV customers can also access the service for £15 per month.
