Tesco hints at mobile phone and broadband bundle

According to reports on ISPreview, the CEO of Tesco Mobile, Lance Batchelor has made suggestions that the supermarket giant is in the process of launching a new mobile phone and broadband bundle to compete with the likes of rivals, TalkTalk. As a point of reference Tesco Mobile operates as a joint venture between Tesco and O2.

Speaking to The Independent newspaper, Batchelor commented on the possibilities of Tesco setting up a bundled phone and broadband package, although he stressed that there was no official timeframe for a launch: “We have looked at it and are considering it...A one line summary of my business plan is to be the leading telecoms player in the UK by any core metric, such as profitability, and that includes being bigger than Carphone Warehouse and Virgin [Mobile].”

TalkTalk currently offer a selection of broadband and phone bundles priced at £10.49 per month plus £10.50 and a £29.99 set-up fee including the ‘myTalkTalk phone + broadband + Landline Boost’ package. If a new Tesco phone and broadband bundled product is indeed set up, this would be a prime competitor.
