Every little helps - Tesco moves into home broadband

Soon there won't be anything you can't buy from retail giant Tesco. The chain, which has already been relatively successful with mobile broadband products, is now launching its first bundled broadband and home phone services through a new partnership with Cable & Wireless.
Tesco began offering mobile products towards the end of 2008; and announced in June this year that it was branching out into offering mobile broadband contracts bundled with laptops and netbooks. Now it is partnered with a number of mobile broadband suppliers to offer a range of mobile broadband deals, which were particularly popular this autumn when students started heading off to start their studies.
Now the company intends to launch itself into the lucrative home phone/home broadband market, something it refers to as 'a huge opportunity to develop its services'. Cable & Wireless will be supplying the broadband services, enabling the company to offer 'competitive pricing, attractive services and improved customer service' in a move which Tesco says will address significant levels of customer dissatisfaction with existing broadband providers.
