Tesco tops e-mail charts

An Email Performance Index run by Epitiro has found that Tesco Broadband is the most reliable Internet Service Provider when it comes to email delivery. The survey found that Tesco delivered 99.9 per cent of emails within three minutes, beating Virgin who came a close second at 99.8 per cent. However, the overall message was that ISPs as a whole "could do better".

As an average, customers waiting for a confirmation email start to think that something is wrong if they haven't received a reply within three minutes. If after ten minutes no confirmation has been received then it is generally taken that the email is lost. This happens around 3.4 per cent of the time at the moment. "Consumers and business seeking a reliable email service need to consider performance metrics when choosing a service provider, and certainly shouldn't choose an ISP on price alone," recommended Gavin Johns, managing director of Epitiro.
